Which Is Better Suburban Or Yukon Xl
When you already own 75% of a high-profit car class, there is probably little incentive to redesign it. But that’s exactly what GM is doing with a quarter of its popular full-size SUVs.

Of course, it’s probably partly out of necessity. GM’s largest SUVs are built on the same platform as the company’s full-size pickup trucks and have been redesigned for the 2014 model year.
As before, the Chevrolet Tahoe and Long subcompacts share basic structures with their GMC Yukon/Yukon XL counterparts, but the redesign brings more differentiation between the two models than before.
The GMC versions carry the Yukon name and are distinguished by unique and very different front styling.
Start right now. Not only are the grilles different, but also the treatment of the headlights. True, it accounts for the majority of the exterior differences, but it’s the most noticeable part of the appearance equation when all that’s behind it is a big box or big box.

And these are really big boxes. Both the “short” and “long” versions (the latter adds 14 and 20 inches of length to the wheelbase) are slightly longer, lower and wider than their predecessors and offer much more interior space. However, cargo space has actually been reduced slightly, although it wasn’t for good reason. But in any case, these vehicles are wider than some places I’ve lived. Also very well equipped.
Both the Tahoe and Suburban (and, by extension, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL) come standard with third-row seating. With bench seating available in all rows, both can seat up to nine passengers, although most buyers prefer seating for seven or eight. However, in previous years, the third row was a problem area, as it was not flat on the floor like most, but was instead at least six inches off the floor. So the only way to get a flat floor in the back was to remove the two heavy seat sections.
Not anymore. With the 2015 redesign, both the Tahoe and Suburban have second- and third-row seats that fold flat with the cargo floor. However, this was mainly done by raising the floor, thus reducing the total cargo volume.
When you open the hatch (which not only has an unusual, easy-open window, but also a hidden windshield wiper and available power operation), you’ll notice that the floor is about five inches above the level of the hatch. . . This provides great lift when carrying heavy items, but also provides multiple underfloor storage bins.

The new folding third-row seats come at a cost, as the cargo floor must be raised to allow for a flat cargo floor. This allows for plenty of lift but also a good amount of storage underneath.
While the change has affected cargo capacity, it doesn’t help much with third-row passenger space. In the Tahoe there is still no legroom in the third row and anyone sitting there, even a child, kneels. There’s much more room in the Suburban’s third row, which can accommodate average-sized adults without tucking their knees into their chests, but second-row seat belts can encroach on legroom. However, no other SUV offers seating for up to nine passengers, and GM says only about 35% of Tahoe buyers and 55% of Suburban buyers have children at home.
While improved cargo space is an obvious benefit of the redesign, it is accompanied by several new features along with many mechanical improvements.
All of these 2015 SUVs add new available safety and infotainment features. Safety features include a class-exclusive front center airbag (extends from the side of the driver’s seat to create a cushion between the driver and front passenger), forward obstacle detection (previously available in the rear ), Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Collision Braking. Blind Spot Detection was already offered, but Lane Change Alert is added, which detects vehicles traveling at high speed up to 230 meters behind and warns if the driver activates the turn signal to move into that lane. Some of these warnings come in the form of a flashing light, while others use the newly available Safety Alert Group, which uses the seat backs as a warning.

On the features front, new features include adaptive cruise control, a power-folding third-row seat (only the second row was power-folding last year), an interactive mirror that allows the driver to look rearward, a touchscreen 8 inches with folding screen that reveals a “hidden” compartment behind, and keyless entry and start. There are at least a dozen power outlets (USB ports, 12-volt outlets, and 110-volt outlets), and later this year you’ll be able to equip your car with a Wi-Fi hotspot. New anti-theft measures include glass breakage sensors, internal motion detectors and a balance sensor that detects whether the vehicle has been lifted to roll or the wheels have been removed.
GMC’s top-of-the-line Denali offers features other models don’t, including a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8, the most powerful engine offered in the full-size SUV segment, and its distinctive grille. chrome plated.
And then there’s the GMC Yukon Denali. As the unrivaled top model in Chevrolet’s portfolio, it accounts for more than half of all Yukon sales and adds many features not available on lower models. These include a 6.2-liter V8 (instead of the 5.3-liter V8 in the others), a windshield design, an adjustable instrument panel design, and a Denali chrome grille.
Mechanically, the aforementioned V8 engines receive the same updates as those used in the redesigned truck. These include variable valve timing, direct injection and active fuel management, which allows the engine to run on four cylinders in cruising conditions to save fuel. The net effect is even more power and better fuel economy. The 5.3-liter version increases power from 320 to 355 horsepower, and EPA ratings increase about 10% from 15 city/21 highway to 16/22. Meanwhile, the 6.2-liter V8 offered only in the Denali drops from 403 horsepower to 420, with EPA ratings ranging from 14/18 to 14/21. (All figures are rear-wheel drive.) Also new to the top-of-the-line Tahoe and Suburban LTZ and GMC Denali is GM’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

Prices for the 2015 models are slightly higher, but compete with other standard equipment. Starting prices for the base Tahoe LS 2WD range from $1,300 to $45,890, while at the other end of the Chevrolet spectrum, the Suburban LTZ 4WD ranges from $3,300 to $65,695. Meanwhile, the GMC Denali now starts at $69,375. (All prices include destination.)
All-new for 2015, these large GM SUVs can be equipped to rival luxury cars in comfort, while trading superior vehicle performance for larger payloads and towing capacities (the latter up to 8,600 pounds …). As such, its market may expand beyond those who need a large SUV for this service and include customers who have seen premium sedans before.
New available features allow these full-size SUVs to compete in the luxury league, as reflected in this top-of-the-line Tahoe LTZ dashboard.
