Which Google Pixel Phone Is The Best
While initially you only had to choose between the larger Pixel and the Pixel XL, the Pixel lineup has grown to offer options at different price points. It’s not on the same level as Xiaomi and Samsung, which have tons of phones at every price point you can think of, but there are still more options for consumers than ever before.
Google Pixel Fold At Io: Price, Specs, Photos
We review every Pixel phone, including the flagship Pixel 8 and 8 Pro as well as the Pixel Fold, by inserting our SIM cards and comparing all cameras, batteries and screens, as well as performing all the industry-standard performance tests in depth .
If you’re looking for something a little less specific, our list of the best camera phones focuses on a device’s photography and video capabilities, while our lists of the best budget phones and the best mid-range phones focus exclusively on the cheapest. options for your budget.
Each Google Pixel phone listed below has been properly tested and used for a long time by one of our product experts. We don’t judge phones based on specs or manufacturer claims alone – we use them as everyday devices for at least five days and usually more.
Our review process includes a combination of real-world testing, as well as more than 15 tests measured against industry standard standards. We think this gives the device a more rounded display.
Google Pixel 8 & Pixel 8 Pro Review: Software Power Delivers Top Smartphone Camera Performance: Digital Photography Review
Our pick for the best Google phone is the flagship Pixel 8 Pro. It’s a strong rival to devices like the Galaxy S23 Plus, offering a slick app experience and one of the best cameras around, though its increased price means it’s not quite as affordable as its predecessor.
All the phones featured here have smooth, clean and regularly updated software. Since Google makes all phones and apps for Android, Pixel phones get updates as soon as Android releases them, so you’ll get Android 14 right away. That’s good enough, but Google’s commitment to 7 years of OS improvements with the Pixel 8 series – the best of any Android manufacturer – will see Android 21 released with all the new features included.
In particular, there are several reasons to choose the Pixel 8 Pro over the cheaper options on our list. First, the Actua 6.7-inch 120Hz LPTO display is smooth and ultra-bright at 2,400 nits, making it bigger and smarter than the Pixel 8, while also offering a significant improvement in resolution and brightness over the Pixel 7a. It’s also a flat screen this time, which is a nice change from the curved screen of the previous model.
There’s also a slightly updated design with a matte back that’s more resistant to dirt and fingerprints than the Pixel 8’s glossy crowd, as well as being more grippy.
The 5 Best Android Phones Of 2023
It’s also the only version of the Pixel 8 with a triple camera setup. The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro both have better primary and wider cameras, but with the Pro you get 48MP image enhancement. It’s not the best telephoto zoom we’ve used, but it’s the best on the list, including the top Pixel Fold.
Right in the middle of Google’s smartphone lineup, you’ll find the Pixel 8. This device may not offer the same specs as the Pro version (in particular, it lacks a telephoto sensor and has a slightly smaller non-LTPO screen), but it’s still impressive, especially considering the price its standard – although, like the Pro, it is more expensive than the Pixel 7.
As with other Pixel phones, the camera is the focus here, producing detailed and beautiful images whether you’re using it day or night. There’s also impressive AI technology that allows you to change your faces in group selfies to get the best possible position, and even use generative AI to remove multiple pieces of a photo, but that’s not the only reason you’ll be tempted to make one of your own.
Measuring 6.2 inches smaller than its predecessor, Actua’s 120Hz OLED screen is powerful with impressive brightness and excellent HDR support, making watching Netflix movies a joy, and the design certainly looks sleek and tactile. It’s a shame it doesn’t have the same good crowd as the Pixel 8 Pro, as it’s attractive enough to pick up fingerprints.
Google Pixel 7 Pro Vs. Iphone 14 Pro Max: Which Flagship Phone Wins?
It also has the same long-term commitment as the Pixel 8 Pro, with 7 years of OS upgrades that will bring Android version 21, with all the new features.
While the slow charging speed and the lack of a telephoto sensor are two obvious compromises, we certainly don’t think they should be a hindrance if the smartphone offers the same overall performance as the Pixel 8.
If you’re looking for a smaller Pixel but want to keep your budget down, the Pixel 7a is a great option. It matches the (now defunct) Pixel 7 in most important ways and packs some features you won’t find on the Pixel 6a.
These features include Qi wireless charging, 8GB of storage, a faster 90Hz display (the Pixel 6a only has 60Hz) and an overall more durable body. The Pixel 7a is a better phone than the 6a and we’d recommend paying extra for the newer model.
The Google Pixel 3 Is The Best Android Phone You Can Buy: Here’s How Much It Costs
One of our favorite features on the Pixel 7a is the camera. On the back, there’s a new 64-megapixel main sensor that’s bigger than the one found on the Pixel 6a and delivers better photos in all conditions. Skin tones are accurate, low light performance is exceptional and Google has done a great job keeping colors consistent.
The phone has the same chip as the Tensor G2 as the Pixel Fold. While we would have liked more power in the flagship range, it is very adequate for the price and performed well in all our tests. Tensor also powers many of the Pixel’s AI features, such as a smartphone authentication feature and a powerful voice recorder.
The 6.1-inch 90Hz OLED is good, although the Pixel 8’s updated 120Hz OLED feels better, and the Pixel 8 Pro still has the best screen on the Pixel.
Average battery life and slow charging keep the Pixel 7a away from top ratings. While our testers made it through the day most of the time, faster charging is needed on more busy days with lots of screen time.
Google Pixel Camera Features Ranked From Best To Worst
At the other end of the spectrum, you’ll find the high-end Google Pixel Fold, the only Pixel available in foldable form. It’s pretty expensive at £1,749/$1,799, but if you want the Pixel app experience on a foldable phone, this is your only option for now.
The book-style fold is more squat than what you’ll find on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Honor Magic Vs, making the 5.8-inch external OLED panel more compact and easier to use. This also means that the internal 7.6-inch OLED screen has a horizontal aspect ratio compared to most other screens, which are taller than they are wide. Both displays are set to a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and the internal display has a crisp 2K resolution.
You’ll find camera hardware including a 48MP primary snapper, 10.8MP ultra-wide and 18.8MP 5x telephoto lenses that can deliver the popular Pixel experience, with detailed images and access to AI-powered features, such as Night Sight and Super Res. Grow. .
This AI implementation also extends to the entire Android 13 experience, with popular Pixel features powered by AI such as the ability to check incoming calls on your behalf and focus on them.
Google Pixel 6 Series Now Official
There are indications that this is a first generation product; the crease on the inner panel is wider and deeper than you’ll find on most other 2023 competitors, and the hinge doesn’t open a full 180 degrees, causing the phone to wobble on flat surfaces.
Google has also removed the ability to force unused apps to run in full-screen mode on the internal display — a feature of all other notebook-style folders — which severely limits how useful it can be when overall app support is fast. .
And like almost all other Pixel phones, the 4,821mAh battery isn’t enough to negate those battery concerns. It would make it to the end of the day—almost—but it couldn’t make it to another day. It also suffers from 30W charging which is very slow, although it is not
