How Was Jesus The Son Of God – Jesus is not the Son of God in the sense of father and son. God is not married and has a son. God was married to Mary and had a son. Jesus is the Son of God in the sense that God is in human form (John 1:1, 14). Jesus is the Son of God, whom Mary conceived from the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:35 says: “The angel answered: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the Saint who is born will be called the Son of God.”
During the trial of the Jewish leaders, the high priest demanded of Jesus: “I swear by the living God: tell us that you are the Messiah, the Son of God” (Matthew 26:63). “Yes, it is as you said,” answered Jesus. “But I tell you all: in the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Almighty and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matthew 26:64). The Jewish leaders responded by accusing Jesus of blasphemy (Matthew 26:65-66). Later, before Pontius Pilate, “the Jews insisted that we have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God” (John 19:7). Why is his claim to be the Son of God considered blasphemy and deserving of the death penalty? The Jewish leaders understood exactly what Jesus meant by the expression “Son of God.” Being the Son of God is the same as the nature of God. The Son of God is “God”. To claim that this is the same as the nature of God – that this is actually God – was the blasphemy of the Jewish leaders; Therefore, according to Leviticus 24:15, they demanded the death of Jesus. Hebrews 1:3 clearly states, “The Son is the brightness of the glory of God, and the true image of him.”
How Was Jesus The Son Of God
Another example can be found in John 17:12, where Judas is described as “the son of perdition.” John 6:71 tells us that Judas was Simon’s son. What does John 17:12 mean when it describes Judas as “the son of perdition”? The word halag means “destruction, destruction, waste”. Judas was not a true son of “destruction, ruin, and destruction,” but these things were the identity of Judas’ life. Judas was the personification of destruction. Likewise, Jesus is the Son of God. The Son of God is God. Jesus is God revealed (John 1:1, 14) The scriptures show that Jesus is a man of many names. For example, one of the most commonly used names associated with Jesus is
Passing Thoughts On The “son Of God”
In fact, under the guidance of pastors, teachers and tripartite leaders, we are used to treating the two names as the same. This practice is widespread and often used when reading words
Hastings’ Dictionary of the New Testament speaks of the Son of God – the Son of God when he says:
“… the name ‘Son of God’ is now attributed to the second person of the Trinity; and the ordinary reader of the Bible assumes this meaning wherever he finds the expression. However, one only needs to read a little to learn that this is an assumption that should not be made without question, because the scriptures have “many sons of God”.
It is used to prove the divinity of Jesus, it is important to understand that this is not always a religious point of view.
The Son Of God
As mentioned above, the scriptures speak of many sons of God. Angels, created beings who do God’s will are said to be “sons of God”. The first time this term is used is in Genesis. Although it is disputed who the sons of God actually were, it is agreed that they were angels that God created.
Genesis 6:1-2 – So it happened, when people began to multiply on the earth and when daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of the people were beautiful; and they married women of their choice. (emphasis added)
We also see that “sons of God” is used in the Book of Job for the angels who stand before the Lord. Moreover, even the pagans called angels sons of God, as is evident from King Nebuchadnezzar’s response when he saw man as “like a son of God.”
And Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in the fiery furnace. The king then prayed to the God of those faithful young men because he “sent his angel and freed” his servants.
Jesus, The ‘son Of God’
We have just begun our study of the scriptures and it is clear from just this little example that the name of the son of God is not given to a deity.
In addition to angels, humans are also described in the Scriptures as sons of God because God chose them to rule over him. In Genesis 1:26, God gave Adam dominion over the earth. Not only was he the first “king”, but he was appointed
Luke 3:38 (NASB) 38 Son of Enosh, son of Sid, son of Adam, son of God. (emphasis added)
Furthermore, we see that the kings of Israel were given this title. God told the prophet Nathan to deliver a message to King David about future kings who would rule as sons of God.
Faithful Reflections On The Son Of God: Behind The Scenes (tv Special 2014)
First Chronicles 17:11-14 – When your life is over and you are with your ancestors, I will raise up your descendants, who will be your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 I am his father, and he will be a son; I will not take away my mercy, as I took it away from him who was before you. 14 But I will establish him forever in my house and in my kingdom, and his throne will stand forever.
Nathan’s prophecy had two applications. David’s son, whom we later learn is Solomon, is called the son of God and is given the throne of his father David. The future king, who also descends from David, is also the son of God and will also be given a kingdom, although it will be eternal.
And English was translated by Christ. So we see that Solomon is called the son of God and the anointed king or Messiah. According to scholars, it is the same as Jesus, the future messianic king and son of God.
Thus Solomon, who was the most suitable king of the golden age of Israel, in the history of the two who were called Messiahs, who were promised to be the sons of God; And since God is establishing his kingdom forever, the promise should logically apply to the king’s faithful descendants. It seems to be a short step from a filial relationship with Solomon’s Messiah to calling the future Messiah the Son of God.
What Mormons Believe About Jesus Christ
We can find this theme in the Gospels as well. The angel Gabriel told Mary that she would play a role in the fulfillment of King David’s prophecy centuries ago:
Luke 1,31-35 – Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father; 33 And he will be the king of the people of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end. 34 Mary asked the angel: “How can this happen if you are a virgin?” 35 The angel answered and said: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High God will appear to you; therefore the Holy Son will be called the Son of God. (emphasis added)
, but because of his miraculous conception from the womb of a virgin and because with him the prophecy given to King David will be fulfilled. Just as Solomon was the son of God and the Messiah (king), so Jesus will be called the Son of the Messiah in the future.
Along with the powerful testimony of Luke 1:31-35, there are other passages that reveal the meaning of “Son of God.” For example, Nathanael clearly stated what “Son of God” meant to the Jews in the first century:
If Jesus Never Called Himself God, How Did He Become One?
John 1:47-51 – Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and said to him: Behold, this is a true Israelite, who is not a deceiver. 48 Nathanael asked him: “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said: Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree. 49 Nathanael answered and said: “Teacher, you are the Son of God! You are the king of Israel. (emphasis added)
Nathanael gives us an example of what the Encyclopaedia Britannica calls a “similar simile,” that is, a literary device “that involves the repetition of its second part.
